Live Mural Painting: A Perfect Drive for Topgolf

Back in July I had the opportunity to be part of a promotional and social media event hosted by Topgolf, the global leader in golf entertainment. If you are travelling along the M77 coming into Glasgow you can’t miss their large 4 level driving range, with it’s enormous nets surrounding the green to catch all those stray golf balls. I was tasked with creating a live graffiti mural on a specially constructed wall, which I had built for the event.

The evening itself was a party, with DJs spinning tunes, an amazing buffet, flowing drinks and cocktails from the Topgolf bar, and a “star-studded” lineup of Scottish influencers and content creators. Amidst this exciting backdrop, I was given the challenge of bringing Topgolf's new golf club, "The Sure Thing," to life through a live mural.

Designed for beginners, "The Sure Thing" promises to revolutionise the golfing experience by making it easier to hit the ball and improve accuracy. To visually represent this concept, I drew inspiration from the classic tale of William Tell. My mural featured a young boy with an apple perched precariously on his head, while a golf ball soared through it, symbolising the incredible aim and precision offered by the new club.

Painting live for this event was a challenging experience. I didn’t have much time to complete the wall, so the majority of the artwork was completed in around 2 hours.

It was an interesting job to demonstrate the power of art, and graffiti / street art murals as a marketing tool. By combining live painting entertainment with creative expression, the mural generated a buzz and excitement around the "Sure Thing" golf club. It was an honour to contribute to Topgolf's brand identity and showcase the versatility of mural art in a commercial setting.

Live street art and graffiti mural painting is a dynamic and engaging way to launch new products and create unforgettable experiences. If you're looking to make a splash with your next marketing campaign, consider incorporating live art into your event. It's a surefire way to captivate your audience and leave a lasting impression.
